ERC-7715: Request Permissions from Wallets (external link)

What they are

ERC-7715, “Request Permissions from Wallets”, is a wallet JSON-RPC standard. An app calls wallet_requestExecutionPermissions with a chainId, the account to that will act, a permission with a type and data, and optional rules such as an expiry. The wallet answers with a context (the ERC-7710 permission context), any account dependencies and the delegationManager to call. Companion methods revoke a permission and list supported or granted ones. Permission types are open-ended; the text gives native token, ERC-20 and allowances as examples. Source [1]

ERC-7710, “Smart Contract Delegation”, is the on-chain half. A delegate calls redeemDelegations(bytes[] _permissionContexts, bytes32[] _modes, bytes[] _executionCallData) on a Delegation Manager, which checks the delegation and has the delegator’s account execute the call, with modes and calldata in ERC-7579 format. How a delegation is obtained is out of scope, and ERC-7715 is one route. Source [2] Read together, ERC-7715 is the request a user approves in the wallet, and ERC-7710 is the receipt the later redeems.

Status

Both are Draft. ERC-7715 was created on 2024-05-24, entered the ERCs repository on 2025-02-18 under its earlier title “Grant Permissions from Wallets”, and was last simplified on 2026-01-16. Source [1, 3, 4] ERC-7710 grew out of a 2023-11-19 forum proposal, was created on 2024-05-20, entered the repository on 2024-12-12 and was last revised on 2025-06-10. Source [2, 5, 6]

MetaMask Advanced Permissions implement ERC-7715 and redeem through ERC-7710. They need MetaMask v13.23.0 or later and a MetaMask smart account, and they offer , periodic and stream permissions for ERC-20 and native tokens. Source [7, 8] ERC-7710 names the MetaMask Delegation Framework as its complete reference implementation, and MetaMask renamed its Delegation Toolkit to the Smart Accounts Kit (docs change merged 2025-11-11). Source [2, 9, 10, 11] No other production wallet implementing ERC-7715 was confirmed.

How they relate to the eight

x402 carries ERC-7710 directly: its exact EVM has a third transfer method, erc7710, whose payload holds delegationManager, permissionContext and delegator, and the checks it by simulating redeemDelegations. The scheme lists ERC-7715 as one way to get such a delegation. Source [12] MetaMask documents recurring x402 payments that pair an ERC-20 periodic permission with x402 clients. Source [13] This is the on-chain counterpart of a spending : the user’s limit lives in a delegation the wallet enforces, not in a signed document a merchant reads. ERC-8004 references neither standard, and no link to the other six was found. Source [14]

How ERC-7715 wallet execution permissions and ERC-7710 delegation relates to each protocol
ProtocolRelationNote
x402EmbedsThe x402 exact EVM scheme accepts erc7710 as a transfer method (delegationManager, permissionContext, delegator); x402 embeds ERC-7710, and MetaMask documents recurring x402 payments with an ERC-7715 periodic permission.
